Assessor
The assessor is responsible for the overall direction and management of the Township’s property appraisal and assessment program, as outlined in the State Tax Commission’s Supervising Preparation of the Assessment Roll (SPAR). This is a full-time position, in a one-person office. The assessment roll is 5,240 parcels, that is 85% residential, with an overall assessment of $511,770,000.
Starting date: As soon as possible
Office hours: Monday – Friday, 8am to 2pm
Compensation will be tailored to individual and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Three (3) years relevant experience in most aspects of municipal property assessment.
The above are guidelines. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum certification of Michigan Certified Assessing Officer MCAO (level 2). Must be willing to move to Michigan Advanced Assessing Officer MAAO (level 3), as soon as possible.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with the public.
- Computer proficiency and familiarity with BSA software, Apex, and spreadsheet software.
- Revisit and inspect 20% of assessment roll (1,100 parcels) on an annual basis.
